Santiago Cantu is a writer and Director from Mexico, currently studying Film and Television at NYU Tisch School of Arts. He aspires to write and Direct narrative feature films, interested in independent drama and surrealist storytelling

Over the last years he has gained significant experience on production film sets, working in roles in the Camera adn GNE departments, and finding particular interest and expertise in gaffing and Board OP. He owns his own Blackout Lighting Console kit, and hopes to continue growing his techincal knowledge in production.

Santiago dreams of utilizing film as a medium of connection and expression. His desire to tell stories has led him to this journey of become a narrative director, aiming to capture authentic characters and manifest stories that allow audiences to connect with themselves. He plans on basing his upcoming project in his home country of Mexico, a personal drama that embraces absurdism and complex characters to share his story.
