about Me…

My family:

Born in Mexico in 2005, I was the firstborn child in my family. I was raised with two loving parents, and my brother was born only a few years after me. My brother and I grew up very close, and we both started to develop very artistic tendencies, expressing ourselves through mediums such as art and music. Though this family dynamic remained consistent for many years, there was a shift once my sister was born. My brother, father, and I used to recreate Star Wars scenes, and we would include my sister as well. Along with my grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles, I was born into the best family I could’ve ever asked for.

I grew up as a very artistic kid. I always had a very creative mind, and throughout the years I found many different ways to express my ideas. One way would be through art, spending a lot of time on drawings and paintings. I also started writing, hoping I could one day develop a young-adult novel series. I would focus on sci-fi and fantasy stories, expanding the worlds as much as I could. Finally, I grew up in a very musical household , where I was heavily encouraged to play as many instruments as I could, such as piano, guitar, and alto saxophone. In middle and high school, I joined my school band and became one of the key players. However, none of these art forms fulfilled me the same way cinema did.

My interest in film originated from of my dad. He used to put on the Lord of the Rings films when I was very little, but I was too young to actually appreciate them. As I got older, I developed a basic taste in film, mainly seeking to be entertained by mainstream blockbusters. Until, one day my dad decided to sit me down and show me something I had not seen before. That day I watched Interstellar, and it was the day I truly fell in love with film. After my dad passed away, I expanded my taste in movies, everyday feeling more passionate towards the art form. Once I decided to rewatch the Lord of the Rings, I realized I had already witnessed the greatest set of films ever put to screen. I now know I am going to become a filmmaker because of my dad. He introduced me to the incredible world of cinema, and I will pursue this dream in his honor.
